ClaimCell for AI Agents

How ClaimCell will support AI agents through a dedicated skill and MCP access to patent and trademark data.

ClaimCell for AI Agents

AI agents are becoming more useful when they can work with the same structured data, repeatable workflows, and domain-specific context that teams already rely on.

ClaimCell is being built around that idea for intellectual property work. Our goal is to make patent and trademark data easier to use in spreadsheets, product systems, and agent-driven workflows without forcing teams to rebuild their process around a new interface.

Why agents need better IP context

Patent and trademark work often depends on details that are easy to miss when data is copied from search portals, PDFs, prosecution histories, or internal spreadsheets.

An agent can help summarize, compare, classify, and prepare work product, but only if it can access reliable data in a form it can reason over. That means the underlying tools need to expose structured records, consistent identifiers, and clear instructions for how the data should be used.

ClaimCell is designed to provide that foundation.

The ClaimCell skill

The ClaimCell skill will give AI agents practical guidance for using ClaimCell in IP workflows.

Instead of treating ClaimCell as a generic data source, the skill will explain how agents should work with ClaimCell formulas, spreadsheet layouts, patent and trademark fields, and common legal operations tasks. It will help agents understand when to pull structured data, how to preserve source context, and how to turn repeated spreadsheet work into a more dependable workflow.

Examples of workflows the skill is intended to support include:

  • Building patent and trademark tracking sheets.
  • Normalizing owner, status, filing, publication, and registration data.
  • Preparing portfolio review tables.
  • Comparing records across public sources and internal spreadsheets.
  • Creating repeatable spreadsheet templates for IP teams.

The emphasis is not on replacing expert review. It is on giving agents the context they need to assist with the structured, repetitive parts of IP data work more reliably.

MCP access for agent tools

ClaimCell will also support the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, so compatible AI tools can connect to ClaimCell capabilities directly.

MCP gives agents a standard way to discover tools, call them, and receive structured results. For ClaimCell, that means an agent could ask for patent or trademark data through a defined interface instead of relying on pasted text or brittle browser automation.

This is especially useful for workflows where the agent needs to move between analysis and source data. An MCP-enabled ClaimCell connection can make it easier for an agent to retrieve records, inspect fields, and build outputs that remain tied to the underlying data.

Built for spreadsheets and agents

Spreadsheets remain one of the most important interfaces for IP work because they are reviewable, portable, and easy to adapt. ClaimCell will continue to support that model.

The agent layer is meant to complement it. A user should be able to ask an agent to create a portfolio review sheet, check missing fields, explain a formula, or prepare a structured table, while ClaimCell provides the data access and domain-specific instructions behind the scenes.

That combination keeps the human-readable spreadsheet at the center of the workflow while giving agents a more reliable way to help.

What comes next

We are starting with practical support for patent and trademark data workflows, then expanding based on the tasks IP teams most often repeat.

The direction is straightforward: ClaimCell should make IP data easier for people to use, and easier for AI agents to use correctly.
