ClaimCell for AI Agents

An AI agent is only as good as the information in front of it. For patent and trademark work, that information usually lives in half a dozen places: search portals, office file wrappers, PDFs, and whatever spreadsheet someone last updated. Agents end up reasoning over text someone copied in by hand, and details get lost along the way.

ClaimCell gives agents direct access to those records.

What ClaimCell does

ClaimCell is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. MCP is the standard that Claude, Cursor, Copilot, and a growing list of other AI tools use to connect to outside services. Once ClaimCell is added to one of those clients, the agent can call ClaimCell's tools itself whenever a question needs patent or trademark data.

The tools cover:

• US patents in depth. Search granted patents and published applications, read claims and full specifications, and pull prosecution history, continuity data, and file-wrapper document lists from the USPTO.
• Patents from other major offices. Look up publications by number to get bibliographic details, claims, family members, citations, and legal events.
• Trademarks. Search and retrieve marks from the EUIPO and more than 80 national and regional offices, including owners, Nice classes, goods and services, and status history.

Why not just paste the record in?

You can, but it's slow and it's expensive. A full patent document or trademark file includes every field the office stores. The agent reads all of it, and you pay for every token.

ClaimCell trims each record to the fields that are useful before returning it. Claims and descriptions come back a page at a time, so the agent reads the rest only if it needs to. Search results and citation lists are capped, and each response says how many more there are.

The agent also doesn't have to guess which document you meant. It calls the tool with a publication or application number and gets that record back, identifiers included, so you can check the answer against the source.

What it's good for

Some questions ClaimCell is built to answer:

• Is this patent still in force, and who owns it now?
• What happened in prosecution, and when?
• What's the continuity chain behind this application?
• Which later patents cite this one?
• Is this name already registered as a trademark in class 9?

None of this replaces a professional's review. It saves the time spent gathering records before that review starts.
